Ross Bridge is a Traditional Neighborhood Development located near Birmingham. Daniel Communities began the pioneering effort to create this destination resort community which was later recognized by the National Homebuilder Association as the Best Community in America in 2010. In early stages, I walked the site and explored its history. In 1858, a Carolinian named James Taylor Ross was struck by the beauty of the Oxmoor Valley and settled there. During the Civil War, the Southern forces built a railway across his land. Part of the railway required the construction of a massive stone bridge which spanned Ross Creek. I hiked to that old weathered bridge and took note of its unique characteristics—over time, one of its cornerstones had fallen. While illustrating this identity, I decided that some times the right logo just is what it needs to be.
