A simple camera technique can do so much. The fast zoom in this scene demands attention with such great contrast to the solemn contemplation of Scarborough Fair. We’re not exactly sure what Benjamin’s (Dustin Hoffman) plan is—if he has one at all. But even with his straight face, we can feel his determination as we are hyperspaced through the fountain and across the plaza to Elaine (Katharine Ross).
