Vanity?

This iconic image was an integral part of the overall Purple Rain visual language. Used in the album art, the music video, and on stage, this solemn graphic face helps convey the artistry of this perfect piece of music history. But after some research, I cannot determine who was the artist of the image or who the image depicts. I suspect the artist may be Jay Vigon, designer of the incredible Purple Rain logo. As for the face, some say it is Prince himself but a common belief is that the image is none other than Vanity. If you know the story behind this image, please comment below.
