The Axel Row property development offers residents a sought-after locale. Avondale began as a mere crossroads in the 1800s, evolved into a prosperous mill town by the 1900s, and is today one of Birmingham’s coolest historic neighborhoods. I designed the Axel Row identity with a nod to deco and wrought iron to invoke period. This branding opportunity came to us from the great people at the Dobbins Group who had the vision to pay tribute to Avondale with a massive hand-painted mural to adorn the property. For the mural’s illustration, I referenced notable Avondale sites and attractions–past and present, in an abstract composition of symbols and type.
